Where the idea came from?

As a .NET Senior Developer, I had the opportunity to be part of many big e-commerce web projects for some of the most prestigious companies here in the Netherlands. This gave me the opportunity to work with several e-commerce component out there on the market. But NONE of them were really satisfying. First disappointment always was the lack of performance. Some of them were slow, I mean really slow when the number of assets got above certain level. Some of them were complex, not simple to understand or not user-friendly at all. But the most annoying was, they were not complete and very difficult to extend.

So based on these experiences, I decided to build my own e-commerce component named Uvendia. That is better in all the aspects! Vendia means sold in Portuguese and the U as prefix stands for Umbraco.

Why Umbraco?

First-thing-First! Umbraco is Open-source! Secondly Umbraco is a great CMS (Content Management System) where you can easily:

Have the freedom to do and manage things your way. Every project has different needs and requirements and instead of packing a system with options and buttons that may or may not be relevant for you, Umbraco kept it neat and open
Integrate it with anything you need
Create your own business specific plug-ins
